60 ft layered wood mural visible during the day and night. Made for 80 Atlantic Ave, Hullmark, Universal Music Canada + Mondo Forma.
To explore an alternative way of making a traditional mural and integrate material and concept inspired by the building the mural lives on, and the neighbourhood in which it resides.
Created in movable panels using FSC® Certified marine plywood, water-based paint and stain (CAGBC product), anti graffiti coating, aluminium.
The mural has the option to be deinstalled and reinstalled in another location. If the work is no longer needed, the wood can be disassembled and the screws and metal frame can be repurposed for other projects.
Set in the heart of Liberty Village, 80 Atlantic is Toronto’s first new timber-frame commercial building built in a generation. Integrating natural and high performance materials, it sets a new standard of development, offering high-design work environments and collaborative spaces.
In Flux; Examining Growth in an Enclave of Continual Change is a 60ft mural was designed and created for 80 Atlantic Ave. Wood was chosen as the primary material to align with the timber frame of the building. Referencing a reconnection to the natural world and the area’s history, this sculptural mural includes elements of architecture from Liberty Village’s past and present as well as shapes pulled from flora and nano-structures found in the area.
